I met Michael in June 2009 when his brother David, whom I knew and was friends with, contacted me with the idea of doing a portrait session of the two in order to give the images to their parents as a gift. My first impression of Michael was that he was David but without hair; which soon after changed once he started speaking. In spite of their resemblance on the exterior, their personalities are rather different; but nonetheless, two different shades of cool. I consider myself very fortunate today that I can count Michael as a friend as well, and that is not only because he works for the Waterloo police force. Actually on that note, one of my vivid memories from photographing Michael and Rebekah at their engagement is the way it felt to drive through town with a police officer sitting next to me. My worries proved in vain, since Michael proved to be very patient with me even when I nearly failed to noticed a cyclist riding dangerously far from the side of the road. As for Rebekah, I clearly remember my thoughts from when I saw her the first time; they were something like “They better choose me to photograph their wedding, because she will be one beautiful bride!” and as you will see, I was nowhere close to being wrong about that guess.
The wedding took place at the Elm Hurst Inn, Ingersoll, Ontario.
